1) Don't let your inner editor out until the end. Haha. If you edit before you're done, you're never going to finish lol 2) Don't focus on word count. It's better to write all your thoughts and have an amazing long short-story than to force yourself to hit a specific word count and then have a bogged-down, slow-moving, over described novel that'll put people to sleep haha.
